Mexi-Vocabulario: ¡Fodonga!

A reader sent me this word with the request that I please cover it in an upcoming Mexi-Vocabulario edition.  Of course, I had to oblige.  ¡Fodonga! or  for that matter ¡Fodongo! refer to the state of a person in which we are in complete and utter disarray with our outer demeanor, in terms of how we look.  Our outer appearance.  In truth, we’ve all been there and done that.  You know those days you’re just not in the mood to get up and get dressed… o cómo dice la canción de Shakira, when on some Sundays you just don’t feel like taking a bath.

meaning of fodonga
La Chimoltrufia - good example as any for 'fodonga.'

It’s okay.  It’s human nature.  Don’t beat yourself up too badly about it!  Just don’t stray too far away from your house in that condition unless you want someone to call you out for being “fodong@”.

This particular word is kind of an ugly one.  I don’t ever use it unless it is in good fun, but you know as well I do that sometimes it can come in pretty handy… especially when one is in a furious whirlwind.  The person in question doesn’t even necessarily have to fit the bill.  They just have to make one angry enough to use the term.

Yup, I don’t think there’s any resuscitating  this one from its current negative definition, jajaja!  ¡Fo-don-go!

I’m always on the hunt for new mexi-vocabulario.
What other words would you like me to include in the mexi-vocabulario?  If you have one that you would recommend please share it with me here.

Writer’s Disclaimer: When I say mexi-vocabulario I don’t necessarily mean these words are exclusively Mexican, or only used by Mexicans.  This is simply an expression of how they were introduced to me in our Mexican Spanish.

    1) merequetengue: Ej.

Ej. Agarra tus chivas, y vete ya.

    4) fresa. Ej. Qué fresa, sólo come comida gringa. O se siente, se cree rico.
