For Navidad: Good Friends & Good Food

This year, more than ever, was really quite a good year. I don’t mean that in the traditional sense per se. We did have our ups and downs, and there were moments where we both kind of felt more than a little disappointed. What I mean is that in terms of the relationships with the people in our lives this was an especially good year.

Our friendships especially blossomed this year. Over the past couple of years we’ve been getting to know a couple of groups of friends together, and I think over the past 12 months those friendships have become even more important to us. We’ve gotten to know everyone a little bit better, and we have allowed everyone to get to know us, the way we really are. We’ve laughed together; we’ve worked together; we’ve vented together over long dinners, breakfast and lunches; we’ve made plans together; and despite some hesitation on the part of some (LOL), we’ve even played games together. I’m serious. Like charades with a full on white board, markers and lots of yelling.

We really have made some great memories together. So when our friend Frida suggested a potluck get together to close out the year together, we were all for it. A couple of days later Pollo Tropical sent us an email and asked us if we were interested in working with them. Things just kind of worked out that way. This past weekend we all came together for our Christmas/end of year get together and enjoyed lots of delicious treats from Pollo Tropical. Everyone raved about how good all of the delicious food was. And they sent so much of it that there was enough for everyone to take home leftovers.

The Caribbean-inspired fast-casual concept restaurant had told us they were catering for 15 people, but as one of our friends put it, “we weren’t sure if it was catering for 15 or catering for 15 Latinos,” jajaja! It turns out it was the latter and then some. I’m telling you there was a lot of food!

The other great thing that came out of our collaboration too is that we get to giveaway two of these catering packages to two lucky winners on the blog. We are really excited about that!
