A la ru y la ru ri ta, A la ru, duerma chiquito, Y a la ru ru, Y la ru ri ta. A la ru y a la ru ri ta… That’s how I put Edgar to sleep last night.  For some reason he was more restless than usual […]

As a young adult I remember the word "enterprising As a young adult I remember the word "enterprising" being used more than a handful of times by others to describe me. For a long time I don't think I really understood why or even what that word itself meant.

This weekend during a conversation about Latinx leadership and mentorship on #clubhouse I shared that it took me a long time to understand how embracing my own unique identity as a Latino, as a first generation Mexican-American, as a person of color was not something to be repressed (for survival, for acceptance, for self-preservation in any environment), but rather embraced. I also wondered out loud had I come to this conclusion sooner, would it not have made a significant difference in one way or another.

Another speaker shared a similar experience and added that he now actively did his best to help others realize their own potential and to reach their goals by offering advice, mentorship, or whatever else he could whenever he could. His words spoke to me and resonated with me.

And so for this #MotivationMonday I couldn't think of another more appropriate expression to share other than Be unapologetically you, always!
