Latina Leadership Podcast
In The Business with Juan and Anjelica
Welcome to Juan of Words by Juan Alanis and Anjelica Cazares! We started this website in 2010 as a form of creative expression. Back then we were "bright eyed and bushy-tailed" excited to uncover everything the world wide web had to offer. We honestly had no idea that what we were starting as a platform to share our personal stories and our silly antics could turn into anything more than a fun place to share these things with our friends and family.Â
Enter the power of social media. No only did we find success with our blog and an incredible network of other creators across the United States, but we even were lucky enough to have new opportunities come our way. We traveled, we worked with brands, Juan got recruited into the agency world, we attended conferences, and we even got to do a breakfast cereal commercial. It was a lot of fun! By 2018 we were established enough that Juan of Words won Blog of the Year at the annual Tecla Awards hosted by the national Hispanicize Event in Miami, Florida.
Now we understand how social media and the digital age were such a huge equalizer and a catalyst for us. And, that's what we are focused on 100 percent of the time. Be it through our businesses, our podcasts, our blog, this website, or any of our other online or offline efforts - elevating diverse voices and helping more of us gain access to bigger opportunities.Â
As far as the blog is concerned, you can always find our thoughts on Culture, Language, Familia and Travel here on this platform.Â
Just for fun, also search through the Mexi-Vocabulario and Dichos y Refranes categories in our archives.
Anjelica's podcast If Not You, Then Who? is one you don't want to miss. Especially her Latina Leadership Series. She speaks to incredible Latina women almost every episode about their personal stories, struggles, and motivations. In 2022, she received the Best Podcast Award from the Public Relations Society of America Houston Chapter for If Not You, Then Who?Â
