Latino Living: Mexican Decor Inspiration For The Latino Home

We haven’t played this game in a while.  Y’all know how much I LOVE my Mexican decor… and especialmente the little things that remind me about my little part of Mexico in San Luis Potosi.  That’s probably why I hardly ever get on Pinterest too.  Cause I could spend the entire day just finding cool pictures to share with all of you all of the time.  Pero bueno, these are some of the coolest finds I’ve found on Mexican decor via Pinterest lately.  Espero les gusten.

That wall is so rancho!  Our kitchen in Mexico isn’t this nice, but we do make use of the wall and ceiling space in very similar ways.  We have a door leading to our bedroom just like that one!

Check this out.  That kitchen alone would seriously get me thinking about relocating to San Miguel, Mexico.  Talk about great marketing!

Since I’m currently on the hunt for a new desk this built in counter top space seems like the perfect area to do my writing.  The window and lighting are also pretty sweet.

Now this kitchen, what really caught my eye were the chairs and table.  I have always, always been a fan of this style of craftsmanship.  ¡Hermosura de mesa!

Ahhhh…. Talk about being at one with nature.  That tree through the kitchen gives this space such a relaxing feel.  At least for me it’s pretty awesome.  The tile everywhere is pretty cool too.

And this sink.  I’m not much of a fan of fixtures, but this sink is so classic, elegant and sleek that I had to share.  I want it now!

¡Bueno, pos happy pinning!

Mexi-Inspiration For The Latino Home!

It’s always a great day when we can all together ogle over some beautiful Mexi-inspired home decor ideas.  I’m calling it Mexi-Inspiration, ha!  Cheesy… yes, I know!  Actually, my idea is also to inspire Anjelica to start making some of these pieces for our own home as well.  We’ve already got the folding Mexican oil cloth chairs done and ready to be used at our next big party!  Any of these, could definitely be considered icing on the cake…. some more than others, of course!

By the way, it would be great to see some of your own decoration ideas, if you’re up for sharing that is?  Links and pictures are desde luego welcome.

Alter as originally pinned by Julie Vogel

My grandmother in Mexico had a very elaborate and truly traditional Mexican alter in her home all of my life.  It was a soothing place for her personal plegarias and to this day remains one of the most cherished memories of who she was and still is to all of us: our matriarch!  La virgen she had is especially meaningful to all of us.

Why can’t we have houses this beautifully decorated?  For real!  The colors may be a bit bright for some, but to me, they just inspire a sense of happiness.

You know, in Texas it’s probably too hot for something like this – I mean opening the window and letting the wind blow in – but I’d still be willing to try it!

This one I just had to share.  It literally looks like the icing is embroidered on this cake!

How awesome!

Latino Living: Decor Inspiration For The Latino Home

For all of you obsessed with the ultimate Latino home, like me – in my case, it would be the ultimate Mexi Style home – I hope you find the following pictures inspirational.  Somehow, in real life, and especially with huercos in the house, it almost seems impossible to keep our casitas this spic and span.  Not even 4-0-9 can do the job sometimes!  Think of it too, as validation for all the time you spend on Pinterest… just fantasizing about all of these beautiful things también.

La costura is really what caught my eye in this one.  My mom has been a fervent embroiderer since I can remember, and her and lots of other señoras have always talked shop about costuras.  The rest of the bedroom is pretty amazing too!

These neon colors were in style in Mexico, and across Latin America, way before fashionistas across the globe jumped on the trend.

Finally… the patio.  Oh, the patio!  Except for the pink tone, I could definitely see myself laying right there on that pillowed bench, scrolling through my phone, a Margarita in one hand, a puro in the other one, and just feeling the cool breeze tease every single strand of my hair in the wind.

Ahhh… we did say this was a fantasy, verdad?!

Keep the dreams alive folks!

Mexi-Living: Decorative Ideas For The Mexican Home

So we haven’t done one of these in a while.  Today, I was thinking of all the cool decorative things we used to buy in Mexico… you know when nobody really thought it was dangerous to cross the border and all.  Now, it feels like that was ages ago!  *sigh*  But rather than get upset about the way things were, why not bring a little piece of Mexico home.  That’s what we’ve always done anyway.  For years I was a huge collector of even the ugliest artesanias.  Somehow though when we moved in together all of them seemed to slowly disappear, one by one??  Hmmm… anyway, I’d say this small collection of pictures is definitely the beginning of something new.

I want my house to look like this!

Mexican-inspired Patio as originally pinned by Sarah Linnell

Let’s start with the patio.  I really like the doors in this picture.  It looks like they were repurposed for this home, and the blue trimming around the green – I like!

Mexican-inspired living room as originally pinned by Kristen Gaines.

Not sure if it’s the chairs or the walls, but this living room feels very Mexican even though it doesn’t scream Mexican.  Does that make any sense?

Papel picado bedding as originally pinned by Elmarie Giles.

How cool is this?  Sure the kids would get it dirty in no time, but for the picture it looks awesome.  Very creative!  Sorry about the grainy pic.  It was the best one I could find.

Mexican-inspired restroom as originally pinned by Dana Svoboda.

So this is restroom number one.  I know.  It’s a little too bright even for my taste – and I like loud colors – but the sink in the picture looks very nice.  I’d keep that, jaja!

Another Mexican-inspired restroom by Sezen Camkiran.

And this is restroom number two!  Is my taste getting more sophisticated o qué?  LOL!  I really like this restroom.  The tile is incredible!  And who doesn’t want a big ass window next to their bathtub to give their vecinos something to talk about?!

Papel picado table mats as originally pinned by Hep Jamieson.

These are cool too.  Papel picado place mats.  Can you tell I like papel picado?

Decorative fruits and veggies as originally pinned by Theresa Biacsi.

What Mexican home would be complete without fake fruit?!  We grew up with it, and I’ll admit, some of it looked so real I almost bit into my fair share of wax and rubber fruit over the years!  You can use it to decorate any part of your home you want.

Mexican Hammock as originally pinned by Lori Eldridge.

Finally, the maca – the hammock!  Essential for resting and relaxing after eating a big old meal of Mexican food… or just for hanging out on a lazy Saturday morning.  I can see myself laying right there right now.  Ahh….

I hope you like these ideas and that they’ll inspire you to bring a little part of your home away from home, home!

Mexi-Style: Ideal Mexican Looks For Your Home

Remember the other day I posted about My Dream Mexican House?  Well here lately I’ve been thinking more and more about it.  As it turns out, I’m kind of more excited about the potential of having the “ultimate Mexican house” than I ever thought I would be.  It’s a little scary to be quite honest with you all.  No se ma vaya caer aquello por tener estos pensamientos, LOL!

Mexican Interior

But let’s just indulge my fantasy for a brief moment.  This beautiful and very colorful kitchen/living room space is so stylish.  It looks like something straight out of a magazine.  I’ve always wanted red walls!

Mexican bedroom

Then there’s this quaint and simple bedroom set.  Not that I want to make the leap from one King size bed to two twin beds in our bedroom, jajaja!  Can’t say the same for Anjelica… but it kind of reminds me of our bedrooms in Mexico.  Ours were never this stylish, but they were just as welcoming.

Mexican Tile stairs

Okay, these stairs are just too cool!  I’m a sucker for Mexican tile and outside areas decorated in Mexican tile.  So, what can I say?

Mexican Fantasy

Finally, there is this Mexican Fantasy.  It’s like whoever came up with this design idea must have broken into my dreams and become very inspired.  Now I’m just being exagerado.  Anyways… do you like these design ideas?

Essentials for a Mexican Wedding

Remember I told you about our Almost Big Fat Mexican Wedding?  Well, today, I thought it would be fun to share with you some of what that wedding might have looked like… or as you all so kindly pointed out, still could look like for us, one day.  Bodas de Oro and Plata are pretty popular these days… ¿Apoco no?

Mexican Wedding essentials

Now I should also point out that this particular collection of Mexican wedding eccentricities were all chosen as a group by yours truly.  Anjelica hasn’t even seen them yet.  I don’t think!  Hey, a real wedding is too much work!

And we all know that the bride is the one who picks everything out in a real wedding anyway!  We men would be just as happy with an all-inclusive, one-size-fits-all, all-costs-included wedding package.  It saves everybody time and money.

I think so anyway.

But… ahem, back to the romance in these wedding accents, aren’t all those flowers pretty awesome looking?  What about the Loteria cards on the tables?  I like those.  My personal favorites, though, are the little Mexican bride and groom at the center of the photo collage!  Those I would fight for, LOL!

The cake… yeah, I’m not too crazy about it.
