The Social Revolución

Probably better defined as líderes in our community, a “few good Revolucionarios” are wanted this year at South by South West Interactive (SXSWi).  These individuals can be nominated for recognition in one of three categories as defined by The Social Revolución, the official Latino event at SXSWi:

The New Americano — individuals or groups using social media to create cultural shifts.

The Mobilizer — individuals or groups spreading news of causes and campaigns.

El Innovator
— individuals or groups who are using technology in unique ways to make a difference.

Though, ojo, the deadline for nominations is midnight Monday, February 25, 2013.

This is only the second year of The Social Revolución.  Last year, over 140 nominations were entered from across the United States and Latin America.  Winners included Maria Teresa Kumar of Voto Latino, musical group Calle 13 and artist/political cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz.

As a former nominee myself and an official ally of The Social Revolución for the second year in a row, I can tell you it really is quite the honor just to be nominated.

You can go to the Social Revolución website to vote and nominate people and organizations for the awards.  Winners will be announced at The Social Revolución event on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 in Austin, Texas.

Nominate away y’all & buena suerte to all the nominees!
